Our home in Caldas da Rainha

We spend our weekends in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, in this lovely vine-covered cottage. The name means "The Queen's Spa (or Hot Baths)", and it is a popular resort about 100 km north of Lisbon. In the long run we hope to spend more time there, but it is an old house and needs lots of remodelling to be a permanent home.

One of the real blessings of this house is that it is in a bit of a valley, so it is very quiet, and during the summer it tends to be cool (alas, in the winter it tends to be cold!).
